RAB finds two unknown persons’ involvement in Sagar-Runi murder

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has submitted latest report in connection with journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case.
In the report which was submitted on Monday, RAB said that two unknown men were involved in Sagar-Runi murder. The DNA samples of the unknown persons were found in the bed sheet tied with Sagar’s hands and in Runi’s t-shirt.
Mentionable, News Editor of Massranga Television Sagar Sarwar and Senior Reporter of ATN Bangla Meherun Runi were murdered at their West Rajabazar house in the capital on February 11, 2012. Their bodies were recovered in the next morning. In this connection Runi’s brother filed a case before the court.
At first a Sub Inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar was the investigation officer. Later the charge of investigation was handed over to Detective Branch police. But after two months of their investigation they failed to unearth the mysterious murder case. Later following the direction of the High Court RAB was given the charge of investigation on April 18, 2012. But no update information was found over the last seven years of investigation. The investigation is getting centered on DNA tests. Seven times the investigation officers were changed.
