Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal expressed hope that after implementation of mega projects including the Padma Bridge the GDP growth rate will hit 10 percent mark.

He said this as the chief guest in a program arranged on the occasion of annual work completion agreement held at the NEC conference center at Sher e Bangla Nagar in the capital on Tuesday.

The minister said, nobody can prevent us from achieving 10 percent GDP growth rate after completion of the mega projects like Padma Bridge project. We will be able to achieve the target by the year 2028-29.

Mustafa Kamal said, it is not just an agreement, not a ceremony, it is a testimony to our own conscience. It is true that it does not need enough people to pursue a work. There are thousands of stars in the sky but the earth is enlightened by the moon in the night.

To the officers he said, we have to come out from the traditional way. Huge reforms will take place in education and revenue sectors in the coming days.

He gave an explanation saying that if tax rate is slashed down then it will decrease pressure on the tax payers, on the other hand it will increase the government income. Revenue collection can be raised to 15 percent after decreasing the tax rate.

The program was moderated by Planning Secretary Md. Ziaul Islam where General Economic Division Member of Planning Commission Dr. Shamsul Alam, AN Shamsuddin Azad Chowdhury, Shamima Nargis, Zuena Aziz and Statistics and Information Management Division Secretary Sourendranath Chakrabarty delivered speech.
