Padma Bridge project cost increases by 1400 crore taka
Padma Bridge project is a prioritized project of the government. It is scheduled to be inaugurated in the due time. The government is going to acquire 1162.67 hectors of land to continue the ongoing river training activities. In this connection more 1400 crore taka was allocated.
The fund was approved for the Padma Bridge project in the ECNEC meeting with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at NEC conference center at Sher e Bangla Nagar in the capital on Thursday.
According to the project sources, the river training activities was being hampered due to lack of additional land acquisition.
14 more projects were also approved in the meeting. Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal later briefed the newsmen.
He said, total 15 projects were approved in the ECNEC meeting with a cost of 18 thousand 372 crore taka.
About land acquisition of Padma Bridge project he said, a proposal worth additional 1thousand 4 hundred crore taka was approved for acquiring additional 1 thousand 162.67 hectors of land under the Padma multipurpose bridge construction project.
It is mentionable that the total expenditure of the Padma Bridge project was estimated with 30 thousand 793 crore 39 lakh taka including third phase increase for the main bridge.
