Internet price may come down in December
Internet price may come down in the next December keeping ahead the eleventh national parliament election. Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar hinted about this following a recent decision taken by the finance ministry.
On Thursday he told Rtv online, VAT on internet was made 5 percent in the budget. But the stage outside of the subscribers level VAT was kept 15 percent.
Mustafa Jabbar said, as a result expenditure for the Internet Service Providers increased. Because, there is no scope to adjust the previous VAT with the 5 percent VAT.
He said, we have requested Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith that as the VAT remains 5 percent in the subscriber level then in the previous stages it should be made 5 percent instead of 15 percent. This will result internet price down as a whole.
It is known that if VAT is reduced then more than 9 crore internet users will get the service at a lesser cost.
Is there any possibility in December? In this question Mustafa Jabbar said, our finance minister has directed us to activate it from December 1.
But a senior officer of National Board of Revenue said that they did not receive such direction formally in this regard from the finance ministry.
Mustafa Jabbar said, I personally think that if the measures are taken then general internet users will get this service at a lower cost.
