Emphasizing on foreign investment: Finance Minister
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said, we will get out of the list of Least Developed Countries (LDC) very soon. The declaration will come from a United Nations meeting in the next March. Over all the country’s economy is going on for betterment.
Bangladesh Development Forum (BDF) is going to be held on January 17. The forum is going to be held considering the 7th
fifth-year plan and progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the two-day long conference at a hotel in the capital.
The Finance Minister said these at a press conference at the conference room of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) on Monday.
He said, we are emphasizing on investment. Specially there is good indication at present for foreign investment. We want to utilize the opportunity.
In the press conference the Finance Minister said, China is new as a donor. So there are some problems to implement the projects under their cooperation. But it will go. There are credit agreements for four projects financed by China by this time.
He termed financing as a major challenge for attaining SDG. He said, I do not think that to achieve SDG there will be enough money available from the donors. Because they did not implement the pledges they did for achieving the MDG.
ERD Secretary Kazi Shafiqul Azam and other high officials of finance ministry were present on the occasion.
