Dhaka International Trade Fair from Wednesday

The 24th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will begin from January 9, Wednesday. President Md. Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the month long fair. It will continue till February 8. There will be no weekly holiday in the fair. The fair will be open from 10 am to 10 pm every day.

The DITF-2019 will take place at the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Center at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital jointly organized by commerce ministry and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

Usually the DITF begins from January 1 every year. But this year the fair is going to begin one week later due to the parliament election.

In this regard EPB Director General Avijith Chowdhury said, to make the fair eye catching the main gate of the fair is going to be designed as metro rail. As well as there will be theme throughout the fair centering the development activities of the government. By this time the preparation for the fair is nearly to an end.

There are efforts to bring different angle for the fair. There will be change in the main gate. Besides there will be some open spaces for the visitors. There will be green zone, so that visitors can move without any hassle. There will be eco-parks at the two end of the fair featuring the Sundarbans. There will be Digital Experience Center (Digital Touch Screen Technology). With its help the visitors can find the specific stall or pavilion in an easy way.

EPB sources said, in the fair there will be mother and children center, children’s park, e-park and sufficient ATM booths. Readymade garments commodities, hometex, fabrics commodities, handicrafts, jute and jute goods, home appliances and gift items, leather and leather goods will be available. Moreover there will be utensil, ceramic, plastic polymer goods, cosmetics and herbal commodities. There will also be food and beverages, electric and electronic items, imitation and jeweler items, construction materials and furniture.

There will be 550 stalls in the fair. Of those reserved stalls for women 20, premier pavilion 60, premier mini pavilion 38, general pavilion 18, general mini pavilion 29, premier stall 67, restaurant 3, reserved pavilion 9, reserved mini pavilion 6, foreign pavilion 26, foreign premier stall 13, general stall 201 and food stall 22.

To prevent any untoward situation there will be mobile court and surveillance of consumer department officials.

In the DITF-2019 there are foreign participants from India, Pakistan, China, Britain, South Korea, Malaysia, Iran, Thailand, United States, Turkey, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, Vietnam, Maldives, Russia, Germany, Swaziland, Australia and Hong Kong.
