The government has extended the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) by four days. Fair organizer Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has given this information.

Duration of the fair was extended following request from business communities. The fair will be held till February 4. It began on January 1 and was scheduled to end on January 31.

The businessmen demanded for extending the DITF duration by mentioning that the selling was lesser than the previous year. They demanded for five days extension of the fair as they could not assemble their commodities properly due to severe cold at the beginning.

But they said although there was less people attendance at the beginning but it got momentum at the later end.

On Saturday it was seen that as the day went on the gathering turned into a vast concourse of people. The fair premises and the adjacent areas were packed with people. The queues were turning longer after afternoon. It was hard to step around the area in the evening.

According to the EPB source, Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed took the decision of DITF extension in response to the request of businessmen.
