3 Bangladeshis killed, several wounded in New Zealand terror attack
Three Bangladeshis are among those killed in Christchurch terror attack at mosques on Friday, Bangladesh Honorary Consul Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan told UNB.
Two of them are Lincoln University teacher Dr Abdus Samad and his wife. The third victim is Hosne Ara Farid, he said.
Dr Samad was a teacher of Bangladesh Agricultural University.
Several Bangladeshis were also wounded in the terrorist attack. “Two of them are in critical condition,” Bhuiyan told UNB.
Another Bangladeshi has been missing since the shooting during Juma prayers.
New Zealand government says 49 people have been killed and more than 20 seriously wounded in shootings at two mosques. Four suspects have been detained.
Bangladesh cricket team, currently in Christchurch to play against New Zealand, narrowly escaped the attack. The third and final Test between Tigers and the Kiwis has been called off.
“We're making arrangements to send them back home as early as possible,” Bhuiyan said.
