No decision yet to determine Shab-e-Barat date
The confusion over sighting the moon of Shaban month is not solved yet. The national moon sighting committee could not reach a concrete decision over the matter on Saturday. But a committee was formed to take decision according to Sharia. The committee will inform about the decision on April 17.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md. Abdullah said these after holding the meeting of national moon sighting committee at the meeting room of Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mokarram national mosque on Saturday.
He said, the committee formed headed by Director General of Markajud Dawa Maulana Mufti Abdul Malek will inform about the date after taking decision according to Sharia.
Earlier on April 6 after holding meeting of national moon sighting committee it was informed that the moon was not sighted. As a result counting of Shaban month will begin from April 8 and holy Shab-e-Barat will be observed on the night of April 21.
But an organization named Muslimu Ruiyatil Hilal claimed that the moon was sighted in Khagrachhari. According to their claim Shab-e-Barat will be observed in the night of April 20. The committee was formed after emergency meeting to drive away the confusion and debate.
