Saturday’s HSC exams deferred due to cyclone 'Fani'

Saturday’s HSC examinations of all boards have been deferred due to cyclone ‘Fani’.

Chairman of inter-education board coordination sub-committee Professor Md. Ziaul Haque confirmed the information on Thursday.

He said, the examinations that were scheduled to hold on Saturday morning will be taken in the morning of May 14 next. Accordingly the examinations that were scheduled to hold in the afternoon will be taken in the afternoon.

Higher Mathematics first part and Islam Studies first part examinations were scheduled to hold on Saturday morning. In the afternoon it was scheduled to hold the Home Science first part examination.

Besides, under madrasa education board it was scheduled to hold the Biology first part theoretical examination.

Meanwhile, cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ was centered at 9 am Thursday in 915 kilometers south-west of Mongla port. It is heading towards Bangladesh costal area with 170 kilometers per hour speed in the storm center. The wind speed sometimes turns into 200 kilometers per hour.

Meteorological Department has said that the cyclonic storm may hit Bangladesh on Friday evening.

The met office has also informed that maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist danger signal number seven and Chattogram port has been asked to hoist danger signal number six as the very severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ lies over the west-central Bay and adjoining area.

Cox’s Bazar port has been asked to hoist local cautionary signal number four.

All the river ports of the country are asked to show danger signal number one, that may be increased later, said Aftab Uddin, an officer of met office.
