Awami League has moved away from democracy: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, today's Awami League has moved far away from the democratic values. Awami League has disguised the cover of democracy. They do not believe in democracy.
He said these at a discussion held at the National Press Club on Saturday. Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha-JASAS organized the mourning meeting in remembrance of poet Al Mahmud.
Mirza Fakhrul said, they have moved far away from the spirit of liberation war and ekushey. Poet Al Mahmud was one of the greatest soldier of language movement but the government behaved shameless and inhuman attitude with him. His dead body was not permitted to take at the Shaheed Minar for paying tributes.
He said, Al Mahmud was a renowned poet in Bengali literature. Al Mahmud spoke against inelegant and unjust, he was the traveler of true path.
The BNP Secretary general said, I always say that we are passing a hard time, the time is very hard. This hard time will turn into comfortable time if all of us would think that yes we can.
He said, never be frustrated. We will be the winners. The people of the country will win.
Poet Abdul Hye Shikder, senior journalist Alamgir Mahiuddin and popular music composer and writer Gazi Mahharul Anwar among others were present in the program.
