BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, I do not understand how these buildings get approval. They do not follow any direction. Neither they have fire extinguishing system nor they are abiding by building code. Then how are they running?

He said these to the newsmen while visiting the burnt FR Tower at Banani in the capital on Friday evening.

Mirza Fakhrul also said, accidents are happening one by one- there is no accountability. These types of incidents are happening repeatedly as there is no system of accountability in the country. Such type of incident would not have happened if there is accountable government.  The death of so much people is heart breaking.

Earlier 22 teams comprising a member of police and two representatives of each organization whose offices are situated in the building entered into it at around 5 pm. They witnessed the condition of their offices and other valuable items there.

The devastating fire broke out at around 12:45 pm on Thursday on the 8th floor of 22 storied FR Tower at Banani in the capital. The fire fighters brought the fire under control after six hours of efforts. Total 25 people were killed and over 70 people were also injured in the incident.
