I did not submit letter, did not seek time: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General and elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Bogura-6 constituency Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, I have seen on the newspaper that I have sought time to take the oath. The matter is not true. I did not submit letter even I did not seek time.
He said these while replying questions to the newsmen at a program at National Press Club on Tuesday.
Mirza Fakhrul said, no question about compromise or agreement with the government. If that happened then the case that was filed against me may not be lodged. The central and grass roots level leaders and activists might not be in jail without trial.
The BNP Secretary General said, BNP has decided to join the parliament to use the minimum opportunity. Our decision is to use the opportunity to protest everywhere- inside the parliament and outside the parliament.
He said, we will protest about all unjust activities committed by the government in and outside of parliament. You have seen- yesterday after taking oath one of our MP (Harunur Rashid) spoke in the parliament, he demanded release of Begum Khaleda Zia. He demanded about bringing back democracy.
Whether BNP has taken decision to join parliament by foreign pressure- in response to such question Mirza Fakhrul said, there is no pressure from foreigners on us. We are maintaining regular communication with them about current political affairs. We are observing global politics as well as regional politics.
Urging journalists to publish objective news after maintaining the ethics of journalism Mirza Fakhrul said, yesterday one journalist asked me whether I would join the parliament or not? I clearly answered negatively. But on today’s newspaper it was written that there is possibility of joining parliament by Mirza Fakhrul. If I won’t take oath then what will happen? So my request to you-maintain your ethics before reporting, publish report based on truth.
